Coventry Irish Society is hiring for an Irish Survivors Outreach Worker (Post is subject to continuing grant aid).

Salary: £25,000 – 30 hours per-week (£30,833 pro-rata).

Established in 1993, Coventry Irish Society (CIS) is a Charity providing a wide range of
community health and support services to the Irish community in Coventry.

1. The Coventry Irish Society is looking for a dynamic and passionate individual to
deliver a specialist programme to provide information, support, and advice to
Irish Survivors that enables them to access the forthcoming Mother and Baby
Home Redress Scheme.

 The post holder will also support an existing number of Irish Survivors that
previously obtained compensation through the Redress Board but that have
ongoing health and welfare and social support needs.

 Irish Survivors are highly vulnerable and therefore the post requires someone with
high awareness and sensitivity to the Survivor’s needs and how to communicate
best with them.

Beginners’ Irish Language Autumn Course 2025 with Dr Ian Malcolm Professional Irish language teacher and acclaimed Journalist, Dr Ian Malcolm, will deliver a bespoke online course in Beginners’ Irish. This course will consist of 5x classes and will take place entirely over Zoom on Saturday mornings, with Dr Ian Malcolm. Course details: Saturday 4 October 2025 - Saturday 1 November 2025 with 5x classes on Saturday mornings, delivered via Zoom from 10.30 am – 12.30 pm (including a 20 minute break). The fee for this course is £70. Course materials: The class will use the textbook, Irish For Beginners (which is in the link below). This book costs in the region of £7.00 - £10.00 and it is strongly recommended that students purchase their own copies in advance of the course. You can find details of the course textbook here.
